The range was supposed to be closed For training, May 19 to 22, but will now remain open for our members in that time. The next closure will be only on the west side in the handgun area on June 5, June 6 in the afternoon and the morning of June 7. That area will be restricted for training only.
ARCHERY PEOPLE, Put May 24 aside to come out about 10:00 AM and lets get the 3-D targets set out. We are giving a tour of the archery range to a number of new members from the Barrhead High School Archery program. The set up goes rather quickly, so come out and lets get it done. We are getting 2 new target backstops for the 100 yard range by the gate. Let Nathan at the Kodiak Lake store know if you can come out for that event.
CANINE DISTEMPER AND MANGE has hit the wolf packs in Yellowstone park and Wyoming. The distemper hit the wolf pups very hard. On a numbers of monitored packs, only 31 of 87 pups survived. Mange hit some of the adult wolves to the point they didn’t survive the winter. What was interesting is that they some how identified a mange carrier wolf who was fine but passed the parasites on to the other wolves. The concern is some of the infected wolves are travelling out of the park and infecting dogs in thee area.. Nature at work.
Spring is here and the range is in good shape. Have fun out there—-Joe
