Hunting & trapping regulation changes

The Alberta government has made changes to the above regulations. I have a list of 38 changes that are effective, as I understand, August 1, 2025. These changes are available online and overrule the printed copies of 2024 that were being used. Go to (https://albertaregulations.ca/)

For example, Item 4– .22 centerfire cartridges like .223, 22-250,.22 creedmore, etc are now legal for big game.

Item 7. Tracking dogs can now be used be used to track wounded or find killed game. The dogs must be leashed at all times.

Item 14–The minimum age of youth getting a hunting license is 10 years old. The youth must be supervised in the field by an adult with a valid hunting license unless they hold a federal firearm permit to use a firearm for hunting.

The list is quite extensive. Check it out. One thing I found out that the trespassing rules have really been tightened up and will be strongly enforced. Long overdue.

Please remember our meeting next Tuesday, July 29 at the Godberson room by the swimming pool in Barrhead at 7:00 PM. Enjoy our short summer—-Joe
